Lowenstein Sandler is delighted to congratulate our partner Paul B. Matey upon his confirmation by the U.S. Senate to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Matey has been a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department.
Matey brought significant prosecutorial and government experience to Lowenstein when he joined the firm in 2018. In addition to more than four years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, he had served as a top legal advisor to former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey.
“Though Paul’s tenure at the firm was brief, he brought a wealth of experience and knowledge related to health care and the government that will have a lasting impact on our firm,” said Gary M. Wingens, Chair and Managing Partner of Lowenstein. “Paul’s background makes him a great choice to join the Third Circuit, and his appointment to the federal bench dovetails nicely with our firm’s long-held commitment to public service.”
Matey was another example of Lowenstein Sandler’s success in attracting prominent, accomplished former prosecutors and trial lawyers to the firm’s national White Collar group. Partner Scott B. Matey received his J.D., summa cum laude, from the Seton Hall University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Scranton.
