Drawing upon 18 years of experience in the information technology and semiconductor industries, Kannan Narayanan builds, manages, and protects the patent portfolios of all sizes of businesses, from startups to Fortune 500 institutions.

Kannan prepares and prosecutes both U.S. and foreign patents, often with a focus on hardware, software, and artificial intelligence (AI). He has extensive experience in a wide range of technological areas, including machine learning, robotic process automation, data visualization, computer architecture, semiconductor device manufacturing, healthcare related technologies, and consumer products. He also performs intellectual property and open-source due diligence, and provides opinions on non-infringement, invalidity, and freedom to operate for clients.

Before his legal career, Kannan earned a Bachelor of Technology (Computer Science and Engineering) and a Master’s in Computer Science. He served as an engineer at such companies as AMD, Intel, Cisco and several early-stage fabless semiconductor startups, with a focus on compilers, system programming, and architecture optimizations for GPGPU and high-performance computing.

He is fluent in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu.
