Juan Soto leads complex corporate transactions such as venture and growth capital financings and formations, early-stage investments, mergers and acquisitions, public and private equity financing, and debt transactions for both domestic and international clients.
Advising investors and founders across a range of innovative sectors, mainly in the technology and venture space (fintech, proptech, e-commerce, blockchain, mediatech, machine learning, life sciences, and edtech, to name a few), Juan provides both legal perspective—on matters involving corporate governance, structures and instruments, and financing terms—and commercial perspective, especially on cross border issues such as international regulations and operational requirements.
Fluent in Spanish, Juan frequently represents Latin American entrepreneurs and international investors pursuing business opportunities in this region. He has presented on the fundraising process for early-stage startups based in Latin America at international conferences like the Peruvian Association of Seed and Entrepreneurial Capital (PECAP), the most important annual venture capital forum in Peru.
Juan is well known throughout the global venture community through his participation in such initiatives as Lowenstein’s Venture Crush: he leads VentureCrush Américas, an annual gathering of founders, senior execs, angels, VCs, and other investors focused on supporting and growing the startup and growth company ecosystem in Latin America and the Hispanic/Latinx communities in the U.S. He is also active in VentureCrush FG, the New York City based accelerator; and he is a mentor for Parallel 18, a global accelerator program that offers Puerto Rican and international entrepreneurs access to high-quality business training, mentors, business contacts, and investors to help startups scale from Puerto Rico.
