Jean Nicolas “Nick” Samedi Jr. represents global and domestic corporations, investment groups, and portfolio companies in public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other complex transactional matters. He represents numerous companies in the consumer goods, beauty, manufacturing, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals industries, among others.
For clients on both the buy- and sell-side, Nick leads the negotiation and closing of deals involving refinancing, restructuring, securities offerings, and private investments. Whether advocating on behalf of entrepreneurs, Fortune 500 companies, growth-stage technology ventures, or family-owned businesses, he remains focused on understanding his clients’ respective and distinct financial conditions and business objectives and achieving their goals on time and on budget.
Passionate about pro bono work, Nick advises nonprofits on corporate governance and cleanup issues, and has assisted on matters ranging from a sale of intellectual property assets to a business restructuring. He also negotiated the merger of several nonprofit entities into Literacy NJ, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating adult illiteracy in New Jersey through individualized instruction and tutoring.
Having worked at the firm since his selection to its LS Scholars Program for his 1L summer, Nick is deeply involved in Lowenstein’s diversity, recruiting, and mentoring programs. He is one of the major drivers of the firm’s recruiting efforts: he co-founded Lowenstein’s Diversity Leadership Network, an employee resource group focused on recruiting, supporting, and promoting diverse attorneys; he is a partner coordinator and partner mentor of the Summer Associate program; and he is active in the Associate Mentoring program. In 2021, Nick was selected by the firm to participate in the prestigious LCLD Pathfinders program.
Prior to his legal career, Nick served as a senior consultant for Appraisal Economics, an international business valuation company. In this role, he developed complex financial models; analyzed market transactions; managed valuation engagements for Fortune 500 companies; and valued complex securities, derivatives, stock options, and intangible assets.
