What role can visual aids (like charts, diagrams, drawings, or graphs) play at trial?

Every trial presents the challenge (and opportunity) of educating the jury, ensuring the big picture is clear, and making complicated evidence more digestible. This is particularly true in complex cases. For example, admissible exhibits and testimony may not capture the entirety of a witness’s testimony or concisely illustrate the relevant facts. In some cases, the evidence and testimony can be so complex and interrelated that jurors may struggle to connect the dots.
